Aspen Music Festival
For almost 60 years the Aspen Music Festival has been a gathering of the world’s finest musicians to perform, teach, learn and be renewed in the heart of the mountains of Colorado. During the summer months, a nine week program brings a different performer each week to grace the stage in the heart of town.
Aspen Ideas Festival
For more than 50 years, the Aspen Institute has been the nation’s premier gathering place for leaders from around the globe and across many disciplines to engage in deep and inquisitive discussion of the ideas and issues that both shape our lives and challenge our times. The Aspen Ideas Festival gathers scientists, artists, politicians, historians, educators, activists, and other great thinkers to present and discuss some of the most important and fascinating ideas of our time. Participants contribute provocative ideas from their fields, and discuss the world with a sophisticated audience highly motivated to engage in a dialogue.
Aspen Filmfest
The goal of the filmfest is to create a community by sharing in the rich experiences movies can bring into our lives. This two week event showcases an eclectic blend of feature films and documentaries from the top directors and hottest stars in the business. Showings take place at the Isis Theater, Wheeler Opera House and Crystal Theater in Carbondale.
Jazz Aspen
Jazz Aspen hosts two festivals during the summer months, one in June and one over Labor Day weekend. The June festival focuses on more classical jazz artists, featuring the likes of Maceo Parker, Elvis Costello and Herbie Hancock. The event takes places in Rio Grande Park under a large tent that only holds 3000 people, making for intimate performances. The Labor Day Festival has come to be known as one of the premier musical events in Colorado. Typically it features a more eclectic selection of artists than the June event, with past performances by Jack Johnson, Widespread Panic and Willie Nelson. Hosted at the Snowmass Town Park in Snowmass, this is one of the best end-of-summer parties you can find anywhere.
