Pilot Training

aexjet pilots have more experience and training to fly their missions than the crews of other private jet service providers. Not only do our pilots have tens of thousands of hours flying commercial and/or corporate jets but they have deep backgrounds in mountain flying as well as Aspen-specific flight  training.

Raising the bar on Minimum Qualifications: Each  aexjet pilot has an average of 9875 hours of total flight time, an Airline Transport Pilot license and first class medical certificate.

One Aircraft Type: aexjet requires that our pilots fly only one aircraft type so that they are completely familiar with the specific cabin layout and controls of the aircraft they fly. We believe this is important for the safe operation of our aircraft.  All of our flights are conducted by two crew members certified as captains, whether flying as pilot in command or co-pilot.

Special Training:  aexjet crew members participate in semi-annual training sessions at Flight Safety International, both in the simulator and in ground schools. Once a year they conduct simulator training at Flight Safety in Aspen-specific operations. This enables our pilots to fly the “commercial” approaches to Aspen, under night and certain instrument conditions.  aexjet is the only private jet company providing this training.
